Gunnersbury Park

Gunnersbury Park - Heritage Lottery Funding Success

Gunnersbury Park has historically suffered from a lack of upkeep, partly due to the park being jointly administered by Ealing and Hounslow Councils. The two Councils have both resolved to appoint a team to work on a bid for Heritage Lottery Funding support towards the cost of the scheme.

I am very pleased to report that both of the applications in respect of Gunnersbury Park and Museum were successful, resulting in two first round passes totalling £8.4million, and development funding of £700,000.  This funding together with that from Ealing and Hounslow Councils will provide the catalyst for the regeneration of such a significant historic landscape, park and museum.

A first-round pass means the project meets the Lottery's criteria for funding and that it has potential to deliver high-quality benefits and value for Lottery money. The application was in competition with other supportable projects, so a first-round pass is an endorsement of outline proposals.  Having been awarded a first-round pass, the project now has up to two years to submit fully developed proposals to compete for a firm award.

I will continue to do all I can to help to ensure the success of this project and make sure there is significant community engagement and consultation. I hope this will range from a series of consultation events, engagement workshops, presentations and other activities.
