Improving our Schools

Improving our Schools

First of all, let me say a big 'congratulations' to all of those getting their A Level and GCSE results this August. I can already see that our schools have done exceptionally well once again and you all deserve credit for helping to achieve this.

Since becoming an MP, I have visited and met the staff and students of every secondary school in my constituency and am in the process of doing the same for each of our wonderful primary schools. As a former school governor, education has always been a subject in which I have taken a great interest and I am passionate about increasing the standards of education for all of the children in my constituency.

We have some really great schools in the constituency and I want to see them all continue to improve and flourish. As many parents will be aware, there are great pressures on school places and I have had some encouraging discussions about the possibility of present school expansion and the creation of new schools. I want to work closely with the Department for Education, Hounslow Council, faith groups, businesses, parents and teachers to give our kids the best chance in life and so that they have everything they need for a bright future.

The same can be said for developing our school's sporting excellence in the aftermath of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Inspirational local figures such as Olympic Gold Medallists Pete Reed and Mo Farah have helped to usher in a new era of sporting excellence which I would love to see nurtured in our schools in the years to come.
